Meet Me in the Memory

Acrylic, 24"x20"

inspiration

Are we all haunted by something or someone? Do we wish we could turn back time to a specific memory? These ghosts represent past versions of two people. Over time, we change, evolve, grow, etc. And sometimes we are not the same person we once were in the past.

Some people love nostalgia, love to talk about the past, and reminisce on the "good old days". Others refuse to acknowledge it, who just keep moving forward, whether that's a good or bad thing. The past is a tricky subject; memory itself is tricky because sometimes we don't always remember the full picture. Sometimes we romanticize the past to mask the pain from it. Sometimes people have different versions of the same story that are slightly off from one another because everyone experiences things in their own way.

People always say there are always three sides to every story: your story, their story, and the truth. But what happens when you want someone to remember a memory with you, even if it wasn't the most positive? Do you still ask them to meet you in the memory? Or do you just keep moving forward?

"We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me"
