Red String Theory

Acrylic & Yarn, 11"x14"

INSPIRATION

This piece depicts a dancing couple tied together with just a single piece of red string as their outline. I used one (yes, just one) red yarn and super-glued it down on the canvas.

The "Red String Theory," also known as the "Red Thread of Fate," is a belief originating in East Asian mythology, particularly in China and Japan. It suggests that individuals destined to be together are connected by an invisible red thread, often tied around their ankles or pinkies. This thread is believed to guide them towards each other, ensuring they meet regardless of time, distance, or circumstance.

Maybe it's true and maybe it's not, but only time will tell, right?

This phenomenon is also called the "Invisible String" theory. See the song with the same title below for part of the inspiration.
